Metuh slumps at PDP event

Tragedy was averted yesterday at Wadata Plaza Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when its  National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh slipped off his chair.
Other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) including National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff, were seated for the inauguration of caretaker committees for Borno and Yobe states when the incident happened.
Metuh, who was about to take his seat besides the party’s Women Leader, Kema Chikwe, suddenly fell on the floor as his chair slipped.
Writhing in pains, he was taken out of the NWC hall for urgent medical attention.
Reports indicated he was taken to the National Hospital in Abuja for treatment.
Inaugurating  a nine- member caretaker committees  for Yobe  and Borno states, National Chairman, Modu-Sheriff declared that new membership cards would be used for the conduct of congresses in the two states. He said the NWC arrived at the decision because of the volatility of the two states and further admonished the two committees to be upright, steadfast and impartial in the discharge of their assignments and cautioned them against excluding genuine party members in the forthcoming congresses.
